Having spent more than seven years in Ethiopia and travelled to some of the most incredible places, we have met the most fantastic people, discovered impressive artisan work and been inspired by creative talents that haven’t yet been given the attention they deserve.
Our brand ESHI is a declaration of love, to all the people we have met, to the places we’ve visited and above all – to the country we call home.

ESHI offers a collection of lifestyle products, that are combining uniqueness with functionality, design with sustainability and Scandinavian simplicity with Ethiopian craftmanship.

All our products are sourced from a local work shop in the outkirt of Addis Abeba. Our partner has designed, manufactured and supplied high leather quality products for the past 25 years.

Sustainability and transparency is core to our business. Our partner is committed to social and environmental manufacturing practices and we work closely with our partner in order to develop the production in the most sustainable way.

Ethiopia is home to the largest population of livestock in Africa and the leather sector is vital for creating job opportunities.

ESHI only uses leather from animals that have been bred for meat production.

In order to support local business we source our leather from a local tannery. We only use high quality leather, full grain, in our products which is the strongest and most durable leather. Our leather is aniline dyed which means that the leather is dyed without producing the uniform surface of a topcoat paint or insoluble pigmented sealant. The resulting product retains the hide's natural surface and therefor imperfections may be visible. This makes each piece unique with it’s own individual characteristics, hence these should not be seen as defects. Over time, full-grain leather will look nicer and nicer and develop a patina from being handled.

We strive to to use vegetable or semi-vegetable tanned leather in our products, in order to limit the environmental impact.
